The new Fiat Qubo Trekking underlines the “Outdoor” characterisation of the exteriors and offers burnished headlights, new two-colour black/aluminium side mouldings and a new protective shield on the rear bumper as standard. The cosmetic and performance features of the previous version are added to these innovations: special front bumpers complete with protective shield, the Traction+ traction control system and high ride combined with a under-engine guard to enable it to drive over rough ground safely, longitudinal roof bars, privacy type rear windows and alloy wheels with 185/65 R15 M+S special tyres.

The car on display presents a new metallic wonky techno orange body colour and a brand-new black/orange shade of the “SAIL” fabrics, proof of the attention Fiat focuses on continuously searching for new chromatic features that always enhance the “irreverent” spirit of the car.

The hi-tech feature of the new Qubo Trekking is its adoption of “Traction+”, Fiat’s innovative traction control system that improves traction over harsh and slippery terrain and costs far less than the conventional 4×4 drive, guaranteeing optimum disengagement performance when starting off.

The top of the range Qubo Trekking version has been successful with the European public, maintaining a sales mix always higher than 10% of the model total since its launch; today it is presented with two brilliant 75 HP and 95 HP 1.3 MultiJet diesel engines, again combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox, which offer just 107 g/km of CO2 emissions (with Start&Stop system).
The Qubo, Fiat’s “free space” car, has proved itself unique in its segment due to an original concept combining different seat combinations (up to sixteen in all) with a rational, regular interior shape. The result is an exceptional, large and flexible usable space. For example, with the seats in their normal position, the luggage compartment has a volume of 330 litres (to the height of the parcel shelf), and of 650 litres up to the roof. But if the rear seats are removed and the front passenger seats folded to floor level, carrying capacity reaches 2500 litres (best in class for the category) with enough room in the luggage compartment to load objects of almost 2.5 metres in length (a real record considering that the vehicle’s overall length is only 3.9 metres).

The new Qubo Trekking on display at the Bologna Motor Show is also customised with the Nitro Kit that consists of cross bars and roof box; 15″ burnished alloy wheels, personalisation with “Nitro” stickers, “Nitro” covers on the front seats, and a “Nitro Haze” snowboard. Developed in collaboration with the American company Nitro (world manufacturer of snowboards), the kit meets the needs of the sportier customers that want a practical car to be able to do all kinds of outdoor sports (thanks to the cargo box and a Nitro board) but without giving up styling details such as 15″ burnished alloy wheels, the exterior stickers and the interior covers.

Since July 2009 Fiat Qubo has been the official partner of the “NITRO Road Warriors team”, the professional snowboarder group sponsored by the American manufacturer of “Nitro” snowboards. It’s already been two years that the Nitro team uses six Fiat Qubos during their Europe transfers in search of the best locations to test the snowboards. A total of more than 200,000 km have been covered travelling in these vehicles that by now have become truly essential partners of the team’s activity and, as a result, a constant presence in videos and photos shot by some of the best European photographers of the sector.
